This series presents a selection of photographs taken in Kabul during a period of international military presence and heightened geo-political tension; before the conflict reached its later intensity and years before the withdrawal of coalition forces. Looking back, they document a moment suspended between optimism and uncertainty, preserving a city and its people on the threshold of profound change.
